Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club has partnered with the Butterfly Foundation to host a BBQ Lunch and Dinner on September 12, 2017. Plates are available from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church. Tickets are $10 each and will include BBQ, bread, beans, slaw, dessert and a drink, all proceeds will benefit the Butterfly Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity working in Lawrence, Wayne, Hardin, Perry and Lewis counties that seeks to provide financial assistance to families that have children facing life-threatening or life-altering illnesses.

The foundation was founded in 2007 in memory of Ryleigh Stegall who lost her battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia that year. Since then, the foundation has provided support and financial assistance to other families that are battling similar circumstances.

The Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club is proud to raise funds for this project and members ask the community to help support this wonderful organization. Tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting any Kiwanis member or you may pick up tickets at Coldwell Banker Counce-Hooper Realty, 102 Weakley Creek Road Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.

To celebrate the 60th year of the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club, the club awarded the George F. Hixson Fellowship to five long-time members, with a combined 180+ years of service among them.  In their honor, a total of $5,000 was donated to the Eliminate Project, a Kiwanis International campaign to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus worldwide.

This year’s recipient of the “Kiwanian of the Year” award was Evan Carter.  He is the club’s out-going president and is currently the treasurer.  This award is given annually to a member who goes above-and-beyond expectations in fulfilling the overall mission of Kiwanis International, changing the world one child and one community at a time.
